How to Get Ready for Your At-Home Haircut
Hi, it's Ali from Alibaba Fade&Trends Co. in Coquitlam. When people book their first at-home cut, they often ask, "What do I need to do before you get here?" The good news: not much. I bring the cape, mat, clippers, tools and cleanup kit. Here's the short list that makes the visit smooth.
1. A sturdy chair without wheels
An office chair that rolls and spins is the one thing that makes a clean fade tricky. A kitchen or dining chair is perfect. It just needs to sit still and be a comfortable height.
2. A power outlet nearby
My clippers and trimmers need power. An outlet within reach of the chair saves us from running cords across the room.
3. About 2 m × 2 m of space with good light
I need room to move around you, roughly two metres by two metres. Good light matters for detail work. A kitchen, bathroom, garage or balcony all work well. I put down a mat, so hair stays where it belongs.
4. Parking and buzzer details in your booking notes
This is the one that matters most for timing. In your Booksy notes, add: - free or visitor parking details - your buzzer number and unit, if you're in a condo or apartment - any access instructions (side door, gate code, the best entrance)
If I can't get in within 15 minutes of your time, the appointment may have to be shortened or rescheduled. Clear notes help us avoid that.
5. Pets settled in another room
I love animals, but curious dogs and hair clippers don't mix well. If you can, settle pets in another room during the cut. Please also let me know ahead of time if there are pets in the home, or if anyone there is sick.
6. Hair dry and clean (nice, not required)
Clean, dry hair is great, but it's not a must. Come as you are, and I'll take it from there.
If you're booking for more than one person
More than one person can get a cut on the same visit. Add a note with how many people when you book. Extra people on the same visit get a discounted rate, so ask when you book. For anyone under 19, an adult (19+) needs to be home.
On the day
Plan for up to 90 minutes, including setup and cleanup. I'll set up, we'll talk about the cut you want, and you relax. When we're done, I sweep up and leave your space clean. You can pay by card through Booksy, or by tap or cash.
